Questions

Anything else? Email [sweepstakes@safariclub.org].

Who can enter?

Legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. who are at least 21 years old at the time of entry. SCI employees and staff of Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures and Pacific Rim Guide Outfitters aren't eligible.

What do I need to hunt in Canada?

A valid passport. If you're bringing a rifle, you'll need a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration ($25) and must declare it at the border. Some criminal convictions, including DUI, can make a person inadmissible to Canada, so check your eligibility before you travel. The outfitter handles your hunting license and tag.

Can I transfer the prize or take cash instead?

No. The prize isn't transferable and has no cash alternative. The hunt can be scheduled in either the 2027 or 2028 spring season, subject to the outfitter's availability.

How do I get to camp?

Fly into Port Hardy, B.C., on the north end of Vancouver Island. The outfitter picks you up there and drops you off after the hunt. Flights and any hotel nights before or after the hunt are on the winner.

Can I take a second bear or bring a guest?

Yes to both, for additional fees. The hunt is in a two-bear area, and non-hunting observers are welcome. Contact Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures at hunt@jimshockey.com or 888-826-1011 for pricing.

How physically demanding is it?

It's a spot-and-stalk hunt, so expect walking and climbing through coastal terrain. The hunter will be best served in good physical condition.

Do I owe taxes if I win?

Yes. The winner is responsible for all taxes on the prize. SCI will issue an IRS Form 1099 for the approximate retail value of $15,000.

What are my odds?

Odds depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

How will I know my entry went through?

You'll get a confirmation email with your entry count right after checkout.
